They are bridges to resurrection moments

As we find ourselves nestled within the tranquil space of the Saturday between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday, let’s take a moment to reflect on the profound significance of these “in-between days”.

In life, we often rush through the moments of waiting, eager for the next big event or milestone. Yet, it’s during these intervals — the pauses between the chaos — that we find hidden gems of wisdom and introspection.

The Saturday of Holy Week symbolizes the liminal space between despair and hope, between crucifixion's darkness and resurrection's brilliance. It’s a time of anticipation, of uncertainty, and of deep reflection. This quiet interlude reminds us of the power of patience and faith.

Last year, I wrote about this day as well. As I write this reflection, I find that it was those dark, silent, in-between days of my life where I learned the most about me and about the God I serve. In our fast-paced society, we often what to hurry up to the good parts of life. I mean, I get it. But those aren’t the days that teach us most. The in-between days are the ones that are like the Ph.D. for life.

These “in-between days” prompt us to ponder the beauty of transition, the necessity of perseverance, and the promise of renewal. They teach us to embrace the unknown with grace and to trust in the journey, even when the destination seems distant.

I know, I know. Sunday’s coming…but slow down will ya? Learn to cherish these moments of waiting as well. Let’s savor the lessons they offer and the opportunities they bring for growth. It’s these in-between days that usher in the good parts we love most, the resurrection moments in our lives. We can’t appreciate the joy, without knowing what sadness is. We can’t appreciate our loved ones unless we have experienced the loss of loved ones. May we emerge from the “in-between days” of our lives with hearts full of gratitude, minds filled with wisdom, and spirits ablaze with hope.
